We are absolutely thrilled with our DJ line-up for Una Mirada 2016
Richard Slade (UK) – Friday Afternoon: 15:00-19:00
Richard, from the south of England, has been DJing at his own milonga, throughout the UK, France and Spain for the past few years.
He carefully mixes energy over the course of his set, playing mostly from the 30s to the 50s to create an exciting, but familiar atmosphere that ensures everyone will find it hard to leave the dance floor.
You’re sure to want to dance every tanda.
Andreas Wichter (UK/Germany) – Friday Night: 22:00-03:00
Andreas Wichter has been DJing for more than 10 years and has played at numerous festivals and encuentros. His music is centered on the great orchestras of the Golden Age, with a careful use of earlier and later music when appropriate.
Actively pushing mood and energy as well as remaining open to changes on the floor, he aims to create a deeply emotional experience over the course of the milonga.
Ricardo Peixoto (UK/Portugal) – Saturday Afternoon: 14:00-19:00
Saturday afternoon brings DJ Ricardo “El Tordo” Peixoto, well known to those dancing in the UK, Scotland and Portugal where he has been DJing for 11 years. We know you’ll have a wonderful afternoon dancing to his music.
In his own words:
“I am a tango DJ who leaves the ego at the door. My aim is to play music for the dancers, to inspire an emergency cabeceo, to facilitate a nice ronda, to keep the smiles going in the end of a tanda.
Currently I am the resident DJ at La Milonga Ideal in Warwick. Strongly influenced by Damian Boggio, I adapt the music to the dancefloor, and enjoy seeing the dancefloor reacting to my music. Each tanda is a chapter and each milonga a whole story. Different all the time.”
Céline Deveze (Grasse, France) – Saturday Night: 22:00-03:00
Céline is one of the most popular international DJs and returns to Bristol to play for us for a third time, this time for Saturday evening. She has played her sets at numerous marathons, festivals and encuentros all over Europe.
Céline aims to maintain the energy on the dancefloor while nurturing the emotions of the dancers with a nuanced selection of music from the late 20s to the 50s. A DJ with elegance, emotion and energy.
She plays from her heart, and is well known and loved by dancers all over Europe.
Céline runs the Pasionaria Milonguera Festival (in the south of France). She teaches tango, organises events, and is very busy travelling as a highly sought-after DJ in Europe and further afield.
Fred Romero (Gap, France) – Despedida, Sunday 14:00-20:00
Fred Romero is a veteran in Argentine Tango. Teacher, DJ and organiser of Festiv’ à la milonguita in Sisteron, France, he has a busy schedule, travelling to DJ at many encuentros, festivals and marathons across Europe. We are delighted to welcome Fred for his UK debut and if you have never had the pleasure of dancing to his music, get ready for a treat.
His music selection is a dynamic repertoire of traditional tangos which, together with his vibrant cortinas, will keep you dancing all afternoon. Come and join the party!
